On December 3, 2008, the first in Ukraine Museum of the History and Development of Self-Government of the Dnipropetrovsk Region was solemnly opened in the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council. The process of creating such a Museum on the basis of the Dnipropetrovsk Historical Museum named after D. I. Yavornytskyi, aims to reconstruct the history of self-government of our region from Cossack times to the present.
The area of the Museum of History and Development of Self-Government of the Dnipropetrovsk Region is more than 200 square meters. The artist of the Dnipropetrovsk Historical Museum named after D. I. Yavornytskyi Yuriy Malienko.
The central part of the exposition was made by the company “ATP” (director Andriy Bystryakov).
Thematic structure of the exposition:
- Zaporizhia Sich – Christian Republic.
- Development of self-government within urban and rural communities in the 18th – early 20th centuries.
- Zemstvos and their role in the development of self-government from the 1860s to 1917.
- Council of Workers’ Deputies from 1905 to 1917
- Council of Workers’, Peasants’ and Soldiers’ Deputies 1917-1920.
- Council of Workers’ Deputies 1921-1989. Ekaterinoslav province, district, Dnipropetrovsk region.
- Council of Deputies during the period of perestroika in 1985-1990.
- Council of Deputies in independent Ukraine.
