The scientific archive was completed throughout the history of the museum. It stored documentary materials related to the activities of the museum: financial documents (cash books, reports), correspondence, orders, personal files of museum employees, plans, reports on the work of the museum, archaeological and ethnographic expeditions, scientific references, texts of excursions, lectures, scientific concepts, thematic exposition plans, thematic essays, characteristics of collections, catalogs of museum collections, etc. Unfortunately, archival files were preserved only from 1917-1990s. The museum archive of the pre-revolutionary period was lost during the Great Patriotic War. Documents from 1991-2007 are kept as current documentation in the scientific part and in the museum’s human resources department.
